Default 17 cal hp tool

Is there a tool/die available that would close the point on the .17 Berger 30 gr varmint to the match target type of hp. Thanks Mike.

I believe Whidden die co, and maybe some others, make a die to close or point bullets. You might give them a call or email. Bill K

42.00 for a custom sleeve, I will probably send them some Berger 30 gr match varmint and match target. Then I will have to find a used Whidden bullet die.

Default 17 cal hp tool

I have the Whidden Gunworks bullet pointing die in 17 cal. Works real good. Just be careful. You can't close the point all the way. If you go to far
, there will be a ring on the ogive from to much pressure. Very easy to do when pointing 17s.

I also have the sleeves for 6mm and 6.5mm. I have all three pointing dies.

What did it cost you to setup to do this? If you don't mind me asking.

Default Pointing up

Use a good lube on the bullet when pointing up, may help. I used Lee Sizing wax.

Default bullet pointing dies

Do you think that the point of the bullet makes that much of a difference, or is it the size of the bullet jacket that makes the difference in performance???
