Default Now the work begins...

picked up the stock from my friend John Maxon today. Machining looks very good but will have to figure out how to smooth the lines on the back of the forearm. I am also going to cut the front of the forearm at an angle like the Cooper's. The pattern started out as a thumbhole off of my Remington 700 muzzleloader. Add some wood and a bunch of Bondo and you can turn it into anything you want. This one is going to be a 20 VT on a Bat SV action, Bartlein 1-11 barrel.
Wenig did the machining.

Dave Looks real good I starting sanding today on the thumb hole going on my Cooper 20 VT. starting to come together. On my 20 KB I did a 2 different angles one from the top down to the centerline and another from the forend up. Two different angles and looked pretty good.

Default Dave looks nice

You got lots of room there for an ebony tip. Step by step photos would be neat, I would like to see how you make that come together. Very pretty piece of wood.

This is going to be a very nice rifle Dave. Please keep us posted with your progress.

I noticed you're using a Bartlein on it. I thought you were sold on Kriegers?

Warren I am a diehard Krieger fan, I am surprised you remembered. I purchased the certificate from Blake for the Bartlein barrel a month or so ago. The 2 top guys at Bartlein were with Krieger for many years and they produce a cut rifle barrel as well. From what I have heard they are as close as you can get to being the same. The only difference is Bartlein has shorter lead times at this point. I figured it was worth a shot. (no pun intended)

That was a good deal on that Bartlein coupon. I have heard of nothing but good things about Bartleins. I hope you let us know how it shoots and cleans up as I don't think I have heard any feedback on their 20 caliber barrels yet.
