Default Pressure ring diameter?

What variables affects the dimension of the pressure ring on a FB bullet?

Just getting started, but my preassure ring is a bit bigger than I would like. My bullets are right at .2431" on the body, but a good .2436-7ish on the pressure ring. I only have sierra jackets at home right now. The jackets are probably some years old and feel quite hard. Can that affect the PR diameter?

Peter

Default pressure ring

consider yourself lucky! My mm bullets that I made were .2433 on the shank and .2436 on the pressure ring. Bullets are unreal accurate! Euber bullets are close to being the same.

You just have to remember the specs if you are shooting a tight neck case.

Thanks!

I´m just a bit puzzled about the .0005-6" pressure ring. Never really seen much more than .0003" on other bullets.

Peter, p.r. dia is direct to # 1- die dia. or # 2 lube. I don't think your sizes are bad maybe slightly more lube to reduce size. Other thing to remember is on a f.b bullet base swells in dia. when powder charge is ignited and is reduced back down to dia. when it goes through throat. George

So if you add MORE lube, it will DECREASE the pr size? Can you explain?

bullet runs on a film of lube in die, more lube less resistance die is not filled out by bullet as much. this will also increase bullet length slightly.

Shot the bullets this past weekend at our biggest shoot of the season(90 shooters). Did OK, not as good as I wanted but probably better than I deserve!

Well first of all George knows more than I do about making bullets, bar none. The added thickness of that bullet lube will give a tighter diameter in almost every case! Important thing to note is that lube reduces diameter in brass case formation also!
