Ok, I have owned and still own a "few" Coopers and have also had some CZ rifles. My experience has been that I still have not had a CZ that will shoot like a Cooper. I have only had one Cooper that would not shoot and it was rectified by Cooper, No questions asked. I realize that CZ may be a good company, but I have had better customer service with Cooper than with CZ. The wood today on a lot of rifles is average at best, hell I just got a kreighoff K80 that costs nearly 5 times what a Cooper costs and it has average wood! To the original poster, I wouldn't get hung up on the wood issue- look around you can still find very nice wood on the coopers. I found one less than a year ago in a 221 FB that had unbelievable furniture on it.

you bring up an excellent point about customer service. Cooper went above and beyond for me on a 17 CCM, a rifle no longer made and I know it had at least two owners before me and things that was probably not their fault.
I can neither confirm or deny CZs customer service but I called them on an issue that was my fault and I paid for it (I was ok with that) and didn't even think to call them on a NIB 527 that has a super sticky bolt right out of the box... I might have to call them to see just to what they say???
