Default My New .19 Hornet

First off, I have to thank Cmatera for the great deal on this rifle. I just picked it up from my FFL this afternoon. Browning A bolt Micro Medallion in 19 Calhoon Hornet chambered by "GreTan". Loaded up some 32gr Sierras in Virgin R-P cases prepped for fireforming. Used the suggested fireforming load from Calhoon @ 13.0gr AA1680. I formed 55 cases this evening without any issue and with excellent accuracy. Well, lets just say I think my "bigger hornets" may not come out of the safe for a while. Off to shoot some varmints.........

Looks nice SW and appears to be shooting very well. Do you think you will be able to get tighter grouping ? Either way, the varmints are in big trouble. Know you will post some photo's of the results on a few. Bill K

Glad you're enjoying it. I'd also like to mention that Greg Tannel (GreTan Rifles) installed the barrel. His work is second to none.

This guns brother in .19 Badger is up for grabs in the Classifieds now. It is 100% Calhoon built and shoots the same.

I certainly would expect tighter grouping on a calmer day with formed cases and some tweakin with charge, primer, and seating depth. However, with this start I'm very pleased. Note the nearly 3 in 1 hole "zinger" group measuring .015" center to center. I shot 55 rnds all in groups and nothing over .495" center to center at 100yds. I'm excited to field test in the coming days.

Thanks again Carl.
It's a shooter indeed. Extremely clean trigger at 1.25lbs as well......just how I like um.
Thanks again for the excellent care in packing the rifle and accessories, I couldn't be happier with the transaction. This is going to see a lot of use and I'll take very good care of it

Thanks Matt.....I have a little 20" sporter factory Ruger rechambered in 22 K hornet, I love it. A .19 calhoon on that platform would be awesome.

Nice gun. Always lots of fun to get a new toy, especially when it shoots great right out of the gate. Should be lots of fun wacking small critters at long ranges. I thought a number of times about getting a 19 but bullets are so hard to come by here in Canada I just stuck to the 17 and 20 caliber options.
