32-20, 25-20 bolt action repeater.

I like to have a bolt action 32-20 or 25-20, cant find one anywhere in Canada, but i have a CZ 527, .223 that's not being used,
has any one converted a CZ or another in production rifle, to 32-20, 25-20 or .218 bee, and been able to get magazine to feed,
Thinking that A CZ 300 blackout magazine, and opening the .223 bolt up a bit, might get me, where i want to be,
so checking in here, to see if anyone has tried before.

He re-barreled my Kimber .218 Bee with a .25-20 barrel (single shot)
Currently working on my Winchester model 70 (pre-64) to be re-barreled as a 25-20 Winchester, hopefully a repeater.

I had a 527 in 223 converted to 218 Bee and a hornet action to 25-20. I only tried a little to get them to feed from the magazine but didn't work. I really only wanted or needed a single shot. I "think" the 22 hornet action is better. The extractor for the 223 is for a .055 rim where the hornet action is for .065 rim on the hornet case plus it's shaped a little different.

Why not rebarrel your CZ to .250 Myra (25-222) or 25-223? That way you know it will feed and fit the the bolt face or extractor. The Myra has a small but loyal band of followers over here in Australia. Forum member Camel has one, I can't remember if it's on a Zasty 85 or Brno ZKK action.

Otherwise I think the Savage 32 series rifles were chambered in .25-20 and maybe .32-20.

There several reasons for using the CZ and as a single shot. I had a couple of new actions and Calhoon S.S.adapters. At my age all the shooting I mainly do is from a bench. I simply don't need a repeater. Yes the Sav 23 series were great rifles but good ones are hard to find . If they break , parts are even harder to find. I prefer to use current made actions that fit my stock patterns.

I do about the same. Have some single shot sleds from both Calhoon and Bob's Original sleds for a couple of my rifles.
Bench shooting they are great and I even use them on hunting trips, as one well placed shot is all you really need anyway, for 98% of the time, with exception being on dangerous game animals, where you want 2-3 fast follow up shots.

Could you not fit a 22 Hornet extractor onto the .223 bolt? I think the Bee/25-20 case would fit better in a 221FB/223 magazine than the Hornet mag. But without either I can't check the differences in magazines. Kiwi

Not a gunsmith but a friend bought a Hornet CZ and had a 17 Squirrel made. Had some problems with extraction. Turns out the action was shipped with a 223 extractor with a Hornet bolt face. I loaned him an extractor off one of my Hornet based CZ and he was able to shoot ground squirrels. I ordered a new 22 Hornet from CZ, something like 22-23 months later I get it. Not impressed. The new extraction hit rear of his barrel where the one from my gun didn't. I took that extractor and swapped it around between several guns and only one didn't have an issue. I put it on the last new Hornet action I have that's 5-6 years old, the bolt would barely go into the action where the extractor that came with the action is great. I've measured the new extractor everyway I can think and they are all the same. Maybe a jig and dial indicator would show the difference??? This experience is why I suggest using a hornet action from the start. Opening the bolt face up from .350 to .408 isn't a big difference from opening it from .375 to .408. Sorry for the long note

I have ordered a 300 blackout magazine to try, and looking about for a CZ hornet at a reasonable price.
I have just picked up a Marlin 1894CL in 25-20, as new, not a scratch, so am going to see how that goes, before putting time and money into a Bolt rifle.

You could get very close to a rimless 32-20 family by starting with the 30 Carbine case.
