.221 Fireball Feeding From A .222 Magazine
I was hoping to receive input from some of you regarding your experiences when converting a .222 to .221 Fireball, and whether or not much modification or tweaking was required to get the shorter and slightly-less-tapered .221 to feed from a .222 magazine. I'm also thinking surely someone has a CZ 527 in both chamberings and could shed some light on the real-world differences. I have already received a nice picture comparing the .221 and .222 CZ 527 magazines, which was helpful. I'm guessing experiences converting .17 Remington to .17 FB, or .204 Ruger to .20 Vartarg would be enlightening, as well.
Thanks in advance. TBR |

I have a 17 Fireball & 222 527. The Fireball will feed and function out of the 222 magazine just fine. The hornet, fireball & 222 use the same bottom metal, all else fails use a 221 magazine

I am shooting a near twin, a 17 Mach IV out of a rebarreled CZ527 that started life as a 222. No feeding problems

I like what I’m hearing. I don’t mean to be cryptic, but I will post my reason for asking as soon as I can. The rifle I’m planning to rebarrel actually uses a Sako maagazine...I think. Won’t be sure until it’s in hand.
