Nosler Varmageddon .17 HPFB 20 grain ??
Has anyone used the Varmageddon .17 hollow point flat base 20 grain bullet that can give an opinion?
I've always used the Hornady .17 hollow point 25 grain and looks like I have to change. I will be using them in a Cooper VE .17 Mach IV. I shoot mostly from the bench for fun, but shoot some groundhogs when they chew on the beans. |

I too use them in my .17AH. I load them back to 3400fps as my rabbit load, I can head shoot rabbits from 20 to 200 yards and not bruise them. I think they are great little bullets.

Varmigeddon .17 HP 20 grain
Those Nightmare's look impressive at that price.
I was looking at these Varmigeddons because I have four boxes of 250 count at $27 dollars a box available. Hornady .17 HP 25 grain are almost non-existent. I checked my accuracy notes and found only one 5 shot group over 3/4" and only one 3 shot group also over 3/4" with the Hornady. The Cooper shoots good. From AussieSteve's rabbit head shots at 200 yards I assume they would be as accurate? |

I use the MSS Varmint Nightmare bullets (20gr) in my 17 AH.
They kill the crap out of prairie dogs at some pretty decent ranges (almost 300 yds), so yes, they tend to be pretty accurate.

Aussie Steve - I'm using Armageddon but all I've ever seen over here is the ones with the metallic black polymer tip , didn't know there were any hollow points in the Varmageddon. These shoot real good in my CZ AH with 1mr 4227

I asked this very question a short while ago - last fall, I guess it was, with small response. I was able to pick up 1,200 of the HP's and 500 Tipped. Weather is just getting to the point where I can get out to try them out now. I have them loaded with IMR4198 and IMR4227 - the only almost-AH powders available here.
