Yes they have, even Sierra Pacific Lumber, who owns a lot of the surrounding forest has been brush hogging and creating a fire line/break, for just this reason around the village.
Think I saw where at one time and during the fire they had something like 27 dozers, along with hand crews working on such. Bill K

Saw something like 400 goats doing brush clearing along Hwy 101 in the Wine Country. (Cloverdale/Asti area) Thought I was seeing things. All fenced along the Hwy edge and the goats were doing the number on the brush.

Been run out by fire three times in the last three years. Twice mandatory evac and the last time because the wife was squirming.
Three years back fire started around midnight from downed power lines. No power/cell phones, no alerts.
I have a "land line" and got hourly updates. Will NEVER get rid of the land line.
First one, (Redwood Complex Fore) left on a Monday morning holiday thinking there wouldn't be much in the way of traffic? Hwy 101 was shut down in Santa Rosa. Something like 100 homes burned on both sides of the highway. Had a friend going out the front door at midnight as the fire was burning the back of the house.
Last time (River/ Ranch Fire) we left around 7m and saw fire all the way down to the Bay area along Hwy 101. Hopland, Cloverdale and into Healdsburg. Smoke all the way into the San Francisco bay.
Got friends that got burned out in Paradise and fires are now close to their new home in the Chester/Lake Almanor area.
More fires up North and not looking forward to them coming down this way.
Oregon is getting hit hard. WE NEED RAIN!!!

Have not seen any fire warnings of such in the Chester/Almanor area, where is that one ? Can't find anything on Cal Fire web..

Our land lines went down and not phone or internet for about 3-4 days when a back fire burnt about 1500 feet of fiber optic line.. So it can occur even on land line. We did still have cell, but even that was effected, but not as much. Bill K

My son has fought several fires NOT on Calfire's radar. Forgot why, but some fires aren't run by Calfire.

Glad you're ok Bill, scary stuff.

Anyone that's ever worked a fire
has worked their butt's off.

Rancher friend and I were promised a chopper ride back
if we'd help a "topper" in the forest about 12miles W.
We walked up there and worked a week, no sign of the
ride, so we walked back.

Couple days later the same guy came to make another
promise of a ride. Orin told him: "ok, we'll work it a few
more days if you'll fly us up to the fire". "OHHHH I can't do that,
can only fly you back" "forget it then we're about to start haying
in a few days anyway and we worked a week on your fire already"

How's it going by now Bill?

George and all: My little village on the mountain, is safe and sound, thanks to all the firefighter men and women. Still a few keeping eye on sleepers, but overall it is down and out, with no loss of homes. A lot of timber and brush was burnt and it will be few years before he grows back.
Timber company will replant the area and get new timber growth going again.
The other fires in my section of the state are getting under control, but a lot of people lost home and buildings, sad to say.
With the dry lighting and warm weather and all the dry conditions there will be more fires in this area before the winter season sets in and rain and snow put a stop to it, for this year. Bill K
