Maybe you should get one and find out..
I'm shooting the 20x47 Lapua which holds about 1-2 gr. less water, so a little less volume than a standard 22-250 and I'm also using the 22-250 load data. On max loads I can get a few grains more in the 20x47 L and have way more vel. using the same weight bullet... If you want numbers just say the word and I'll go look them up in my log.......

As I calculate it, a .20 only has about 18% less area to push on than a .22 has, I was thinking it would be a lot less for some reason. Larry

Here are my loads for a comparison with Sierra loads for a 22-250.

20x47 Lapua;
50 gr. Berger, Big-game/40.0 3983 fps.
50 gr. Berger, N-140/ 36.5 3956 fps.
50 gr. Berger, N-550/39.0 3989 fps.

40 gr. V-max Big-game/39.5 3956-4000 fps.

22-250 rem.;
50 gr. N-140/36.6 3800 fps.
50 gr. N-550/39.0 3800 fps

40 gr. RL-15/37.7 4000 fps

Ram shot big-game falls between RL-15 and N-140..

Like I said if you back off a few grains (2.0) you can use 22-250 reloading data...
Most times all you need is loading data from a cartridge that has close to the same volume and start low and work up, after awhile you'll see a pattern with loads and vel. they produce and then you know where you can start your other loads using another powder. Reloading manuals are very helpful, everyone should have a few to go by...

Hi all,

Just reading this thread with interest as I have just managed to pick up a bottle of RL17.
Any updates on using the RL17 in the 20-250?
