Default Ruger No 3 in 20 Ackley Hornet

Some of you may enjoy seeing my latest project, a Ruger No 3 with No 1 wood in 20 AH. Doug and I have been working simultaneously on similar projects, and I appreciate his help

My 22 Hornet turned out to have a bad barrel so I had a PacNor Super Match crome moly 3 groove 1/12 turned to the factory contour and fitted PacNor. They did a great job and turned it around in less than the 8-10 weeks quoted. I rust blued the barrel myself and it turned out pretty nicely.

The buttstock is English walnut purchased off Ebay as a rough turned partially inlet blank. I'm still not totally finished shaping and finishing it, and may have it checkered some day to match the factory forend.

So far I've just worked up fire forming loads and tested a few powder bullet combos for speed. Looks like I'll be fire forming with 32 Vmax and Lilgun at about 3050 and formed loads with A1680 at 3250-3300.

Here are some targets from yesterday, all 100 yd. These are a few load combos that show promise once I get the dies made. Right now the priority is 300-400 fire forming loads to use on a PD trip in a few weeks. . Hope you enjoyed.

Larry congratulations, the PD's are going to be in trouble for sure. I like the look of the #3 lever on the #1 stock. You just made Doug go into Warp Speed to finish his.

Thanks, Ray! I really appreciate all your suggestions and offers of help during this project.

Yas, Doug is excited to be working on his. We've had a lot of fun with this one.
Can't wait to get it out to visit Skippy!
