Default short caliber not small

shot this buck this afternoon with my 300 aac blackout ar-15 10.5" pistol , 110 barnes at 2285 fps. shot @200 yards.
he was so big I had to hook him to the trailer hitch on my truck and drag him behind the truck .5 miles to the ranch house to get help loading him.

the question is mount or not. for perspective I go 285#

no damage to the hair, all that touched the ground was one side of his rump. it was grass all the way to the farm house.

Bob that's a dandy buck for a WT in most areas.

Knowing how high your walls are and the things you
and wife enjoy. I'd say mount him. Sure wish I had the
high open ceiling and walls you do.

All I have open is an 8' wide space over this thing. Filled up
with a buck, goat horns, two pigs, and a plaque deer rack.
Dad's moose, 'bou and elk rack, are on the shop wall. Bear
on a sheet of plywood out there.

That's one hang up on 8' ceilings and 30' window wall.

What's that black handled stick behind you? Playing crip??
You're lookin good old man!

Default Nice Buck

Foxhunter,
For me, that one would go one the wall, that being said, I'm in Pa and not Missouri, that would explain why I don't have anything that big on any of my walls

Congratulations,
that is a nice buck.
Stan

PS. what is the width on that rack and does the weight probably go over 200lbs easily?

I'm with Stan. In PA, that's a wall hanger, at least a skull mount. Weight, I'd say it goes closer to 200.

Well done 200 yards is solid performance out of an SBR. I am a big proponent of less is more, and the 300BO is ideal cartridge when paired with 110gr Barnes TAC-TX for white tail and hog under 200 yards. There are some guys stretching its lethality out to 300 yards using 150gr Speers Gold Dot bullets.

Did the bullet remain in deer or did it pass through the deer?

bullet stayed in the deer and just about cut the liver in half. shot a doe the other day with it at the same range and double lunged her, bullet exited.
shot another buck with it last year and it broke both shoulders at 125 yds. love the no recoil, feels like an air rifle, just don't forget ear protection.
