And we better have a pic of the winning two gun teams

Well after the dinner and presentation was finished it was time to say goodbyes to friends and think of the memories.
On the Monday Helen and I loaded up the car and headed toward Vancouver, some of the scenery we had already seen but from the Lake Louise turnoff it was just about all new scenery. I should've taken some photos but didn't, it seemed every time I wanted to stop for a photo we were going through roadworks and was unable to stop.
There is some awesome scenery that we saw on the trip back to Vancouver, Rogers Pass was just a small portion of the trip, we over nighted at Kamloops then carried on Hwy 1 from Kamloops to Vancouver.
We saw a terrible crash somewhere around Tappen (I think) and approx 20 min latter saw the ambulance heading in the direction we had just come from, I often wonder if all the people involved are OK.

Anyway after reaching Vancouver it was checkin time and then a flight back to New Zealand, we landed in Auckland and then caught our flight back to Dunedin.

A few views over the Kaikoura's and the South Island

Well that was an awesome trip, New Zealand still rates as #1 for scenery and variety, yet the USA, Canada and other countries certainly have some different scenery we don't have that is just as spectacular.

Sure need a good pilot that can tell the difference between clouds
and snow covered mtns. Could get kinda rough trying to fly thru the
wrong one.

Clouds are impressive from above.

I, for one, and I am sure others think the same Ian. Your photo tour, information and story of this trip, was a very fine photo tour and the manner in which you and the wife did it, made it almost as if we were on the trip also.
Thank you for this fine series of posts. And as you said, there are so many really nice things to see and do around this troubled world, it was great you shared some good things, people and events with all of us, as you did. Bill K

Thank you everyone, it is good to know that you enjoyed the "tour".

If it didn't bring back memories for when you visited someplace then I hope it ignites an urge to visit some place you've wanted to see.

I never left New Zealand until I went to Australia for a Benchrest match in 2000, in actual fact I'd never been out of the South Island till then either.
Since then I've enjoyed some beautiful scenery and sights around the world, met some outstanding people and a lot of them I still call "friend"

One thing I had done before then was explore most of the South Island of New Zealand, it is a gorgeous place and the people I've met have been fantastic, I am proud to call New Zealand "home"

Ian:

From the pictures you've shared with me in several forms.
You have a right to be proud of your island country.

I drove OTR ten years and been in either 40 or 41 states, never back east.
I've seen more of the US thru your pictures than I did trucking. At least the
'tourist sites'.

Trouble with driving for a living is the deadlines to get there sooner. So many
places I wanted to stop and explore and couldn't. Bet I've driven thru Custer's
disaster area ten times and never any place to park the rig, plus always had
to be at destination by a certain day.

I for one very much enjoy your trips and feel the same mutual feelings about
friends since you folks came to visit. Was it in '11 or 12?

Best wishes to both you and Helen.
