If you always wanted freckles you are now golden, and can now die your hair red. REALLY glad it worked out as well as it did. Loading and small bore wildcats are fun but we all need to remember we are playing with stuff that can seriously mess with your day. Thanks for sharing.

Glad you are OK!
You said the Sako extractor came out. I am guessing that you were shooting a Remington. This is not the first time I have heard of it.
Also, I am guessing that you are right handed and it was a right hnded action.
All of you lefties out there, think of where the extractor ended up coming out of the gun, and where you head is when you shoot.
I like Sako extractors, but the next one I do will be a M16 style...

Now what was that Kenny said about cheating death? I am glad to see and hear that you are alright, but this should be another reminder to all of us that this hobby can be dangerous and deadly under the right circumstances. We made comments about Adams 4,000+fps 20vartarg, he survived it, so far, but Bob's experiment blew up in his face. For the most part there is no load info on these wildcats and we are the test bed. HEY, dial them back a little bit fellas, we don't need to read about one of the members loosing an eye or finger, much less in the gone but not forgotten column!

I did a similar thing a few weeks ago when I tried Lil'gun in the 19fireball. Put my glasses on after the first primer blew, then did 2 more, and another one the next day. I didn't get to bleeding but there's certainly enough spare room inside the remmy bolt to let a face full of crap get through. Glad you're okay to go Bob. Could Change BHB to... Bleeding hooter Bob. Sorry 'bout that, couldn't resist.

Bob,
Glad you come thru this with out serious injury.
Bob was this rifle test fired by the gunsmith and did he say what load?
Have you been able to find someone elses data with H4895?
Have you checked the ones you did fire against your unfired rounds?
Not knowing anything about the 17 Beggs, this seems like it would be a reasonable load. Comparing it to some H4895 loads I have used in a 17 Remington. I know, you thought so also or you wouldn't have loaded it.

Not to steal your thread but this might be an oportunity to save someone else a problem.
More than once I have seen posts on here of how a load was extrapolated from a known load, in a comparable case, different caliber. For example.
The Beggs cases are somewhat close to a PPC case.
A max load in a 22 PPC is 28 gr of H4895 gives 50,000 C.U.P. with a 55gr bullet. THEREFORE Taking into account all load data has been Lawyer proofed.
A 17 Beggs is the same case therefore a 30gr bullet with 28 gr of H4895 should be safe so to be super safe lets only use 26gr of H4895.
It's even possible to make this sound reasonable.
Kenny

Good to hear you are OK. At least your Beggs didn't end up like this PPC
