Default CZ 527 in 221 Fireball

Take care of those CZ 527 fireballs. One sold yesterday on GunBroker for $926.

Cha Ching, bought one several months ago for $600 out the door with only 14 rounds through it.

Later found a deal on a batch of ammo and set of dies on Gunbroker, ashamed to say I've not gotten around to sighting it in yet.

Cha-Ching again.....mine came home from the pawn shop with a M8 6X Leupold aboard for fifty bucks more. As it shoots the 40gr NVG or NBT very well with either A2200 or RL-7 (.3's & .4's) it won't be going anywhere any time soon.

But I had no idea they were going for those kind of prices! Yikes!

I sold mine on gunbroker last year for around $650, it was used with a few hundred rounds through it, decent wood, nothing special. It was in 95% condition or better though.

Never was impressed by the fireball..........i'll take a 22K hornet and a 222 anyday. But, that's just my opinion.

I've heard stories about the .221 much like the .222 (which I have in a 527 Lux), my first 527 is in .22 Hornet and I'm now up to eight 527's, I know some don't care for them but I'm pleased with all but one of mine and I know pretty much what it needs.

Years back when the XP100 came out in .221 and I got one new in the box for around $100.00 all I could think of was that the .221 belonged in a rifle. Years later CZ brought out the .221 in a 527 American and I got mine in 2006 with a fairly decent stick for a bit under $500.00.

This is one of few rifles I've never got around to fiddling with except for tweaking the trigger a bit, fine right out of the box. All those years ago when I figured the .221 belonged in a rifle I was right as far as I'm concerned .
When did they discontinue them?

Thanks Gerald, got lucky on that one. I was at a local gun show and a buddy who had gone a different direction from the entrance rushed up to me and said "Hey, there's something over here you wanna see! He was right. Actually I paid less than $500.00, that's what the guy was asking for it new in the box. I asked him if he'd be interested in swapping for a Remington ADL .30-06?
"Oh Yeah" he says. Small store and going into fall an elk rifle excited him a lot more then setting on on that CZ till Spring I suppose.
I ran home and grabbed the ADL and some targets I'd shot with it, it had a really slow barrel but was crazy accurate, about 20 years old.
I'd paid $280 for it with a high line Tasco scope on it as a package and after initial sight in I'd never changed the scope and it had harvested a lotta elk antelope and deer over the years but it was fanatically cared for like all of em.
I showed the rifle to the guy he looks it over and said "Is this new"? I said no and again pointed out the stack of targets most of em one hole groups. He asked if the scope went with it and I said yes. He asked if he could keep the targets I said yes again. He said "How bout a hundred bucks?" I said yeah, that'll work. I was ready to go more then that but was flabbergasted when he reached in his pocket, pulled out a hunskey and hands it to me and started boxing up my new rifle. Dollar was a lot stronger then and I don't think he much liked CZ's either .
One of the few really good deals I stumbled into over the years .

Wow Doug!

That story made me smile

I love good deals and that sounds like a great one.

Beautiful piece.............if my CZ 221 had that nice of wood, I would have kept it outta spite. Still think the 221 doesn't fit my needs, but that stick sure does. Nice rifle.
