Neil:
Try powder coating them.
I've been told that will stop the fouling.

Default 15.5 ntx

I live in Oregon but shoot a lot of squirrels in northern Calif… I love my 17’s and hate the thought of giving them up due to the lead law. So, I bought a couple of boxes of Hornady Mach 2, 15.5 ntx lead free and harvested the bullets from them.

They came out with the factory crimp ring on them but didn’t seam to affect seating, concentricity or accuracy.

It was easy working up a load for them for my CZ 17 HH. In fact they turned out to be more accurate than any of the 20 or 25 grain I’ve used. Although velocity was the best with CFE BLK, RL-7 was a lot more accurate. I’m not sure of what the ‘splat’ factor will be though.

Hi Dan,

Please tell me how you pulled the bullets without damaging them, I've found that they are really crimped in hard.

Thanks,
Marcos (elalto)

I am sure this nonsense will be creeping into NY soon. Cuomo is never one to be outdone in the stupidity department. These are troubling times we live in.

Slowly through out all the states, I just read a news blip that Washington state, the new gov and legislature are in acting more rules on gun purchase, no one under 21, also most all semi-auto weapons will or can be classed as Assault Rifles and will be banned. It is spreading faster than we think folks, the fruitcakes are out numbering us. Bill K

I actually kind of shoot them out but not sure if it would be acceptable to post how here in an open forum but if you would like, I can send you pictures by PM. With my best loads using 20 grain z max or dog town bullets and various powders, my groups are in the 1/2 - 3/4 inch with this rifle. I am so excited about this bullet that I bought 80 boxes of mach 2 from midway when they had them on clearance. Wish I had bought more. It's well worth my time to harvest them.

Dan

There are some non-lead 22 lr on the market already. Copper bullets by CCI. So there are some available, more will probably show by other makers. Bill K
