Default Sierra .224" 80gr. Matchkings - what to do?

I was just given a box of 80gr. Sierra Matchkings - the large 500 round box. Does this mean I have to:
1/.- buy a new rifle with fast twist
2/.- re-barrel either my Sako .222 L1 or the Remington M700 .22-250?
3/.- sell or give them away?

Default Sierra ....224 80 gr. Matchkings...what to do ?

Well if you want to shoot those babies in a 22-250, then a new 1/8 twist barrel would do the trick. Otherwise, if you have no use, sell them. Bill K

you could just shoot them with what you have and make real neat key holes, for something to do, but it would seem more practical, you have to buy a new barrel ! cant waste perfectly good bullets

Default option 1

I shoot those out of a 22-243, with a 1-8". Makes a mess on the receiving end.

My 1:9 223 M70 almost works with the 80gr SMK in cold weather. Doesn't keyhole, but only shoots about 2.5 MOA at best. Must have a bunch of yaw going down range. 40gr to 69gr all shoot around 0.5 MOA or a bit less.

Regarding the original question, I would get a fast twist 22-250, 220 Swift or maybe even a 224 Valkyrie.

Obviously, you must acquire a new rifle. There is really no other option...

New rifle of course.........in a pinch..........new barrel on the 473 head action.

A lot of Oklahoma coyote guys use a 22/243 and like it, quick twist/longish bullet.

My own personal choice would be a pre64 model 70, Shilen #4 barrel 26"+, in 224 Clark. Would make a nice coyote gun..........barrel life, who cares about that?......................kinda like owning a Ferrari me thinks.

a fast twist 22-250 or 22 creedmoor would make good use of them but there kinda dated by todays standards in terms of BC

I have a bunch of the nosler copys that I got cheap that I shoot from ASC mags (allows 2.315" cartridge length) in an AR. They give me an edge in the wind and shoot to the same POA as my 77gr smk load out to 500

I have an 8 twist 22-250 AI built just for those pills and it works beautifully. So, if you want to exercise the last part of your last option, then I would gladly help you out there!

Tks guys - all options I kinda figured. There is of course, absolutely no sense or value in loading them in my rifles.
I should probably advertise them locally (R&G Club) for someone with a fast twist .223 or other ctg. to purchase.
