That guy’s put up with more pain than most will experience over the last many years. Get back to doin’ what you do best, George, soon!
I sent G a few texts over the last few days. I think he can read those when he can’t get “Online”. Ken.

Advice to George.
New knee? Got me another one 4 weeks ago. The walker is parked over in the corner, and I think I left the cane in the bedroom. Only advice, do your exercises, work at it, work hard at it.. Get that range of motion back. This is my second one and I have to admit, it was easier at 61 than at 70.

george is tough, I feel like a wimp with only 30" of ss in my right leg. I think the did not replace the knee but relined it with a new procedure.
good luck George.

Hope the old codger does his exercises as instructed. I over-did mine, got on the bicycle too hard and too fast & ended up with tendinitis in the patella tendon, just getting over that, 3 years later, but have over 130degrees of bend.
Falling on the ice twice that winter 1 month after surgery didn't help, either. The road to recovery can be long, or short. They had me on morphine - hate that crap. I quit the morphine 8 days after surgery so I could drive the truck. Bit rough on Tylenol and Ibuprofen highballs for a few days, but that was all I needed. I did notice they forgot to put a grease nipple in my knee. So far, NP. Good luck, George.

Thanks for the update, it is awesome news. Get away from the Oxycodine AS SOON AS YOU CAN POSSIBLY DO SO. IT IS AN ADDICTIVE DRUG THAT WILL ONLY CAUSE YOU LONG TERM PROBLEMS.
Waking up without knee pain after years of pain I can only imagine the relief this gives you George. Godspeed and get up out of bed for your recovery ASAP. Do they actually make knee nipples? Those could be fun. Last edited by 17tbs; 10-23-2018 at 04:41 PM. |

The very best to you George and wishes for a speedy and painless recovery.
As for the opioids...... GOOD ADVICE! I recently had a total hip replacement, did the entire recovery with Tylenol and told the doc NO opioids. Then a couple of months ago, they found aneurysms in both my legs. One needed a bypass that required filleting my leg for "vein harvesting" and the bypass (BIG ouch!). They prescribed beaucoup oxy and MS (morphine)....again, I said NO and did the 8 week recovery with only Tylenol. It was a total bitch, but better than getting strung out on that potent crap the docs all prescribe. We're supposed to be a bunch of tough old coots, right? So say NO to opioids, and you'll be glad you did (in the end that is...in between, not so much ).

George, Use plenty of ice to help alleviate pain. I had knee replaced two years ago. They sent me home with an "ice machine". It was a reservoir where one mixed water and ice that was circulated thru a wrap that was applied around the knee. It stayed cold for 3 or 4 hours. Attached link illustrates the type of unit (could not find a link to the specific unit I was supplied).
