20PPC accuracy load
After almost 6 years I've blown the dust off my 20PPC which was made on a SAKO AI single shot varminter
1:12 x 24" PacNor Using BERGER 35 gr. varmint bullets on 220Russian brass with Benchmark powder. My BEST accuracy load is @ 3750 fps At 100 yds., with this load, the bullets drop into the "same bullet holes" Adding more powder for more velocity and the accuracy drops-off. Should I be satisfied with the 3750 ? Would have expected 3900 fps |

20PPC accuracy load
In my opinion accuracy trumps FPS every time. Bill K

Not the same but...My .20 Practical came alive at 3710 FPS with 40 gr Vmax's. Like you I was thinking about adding a little more powder but, my best group was .169 and I decided to leave it there.

Like was said, accuracy over velocity; the PD's won't know the difference, unless you miss of course
I have 2 different 20PPC rifles and I must say that I'm a little disappointed with their performance vs my 20-223AI rifles. I have so far been able to get better accuracy/velocity combos from th 20-223AI. Thought the 20PPC would be a step up but maybe not. Following this thread with interest. |

My two are Sako 491 single shot varmint with X-Caliber 3G11 @ 26", and Dakota Varminter with X-Caliber 3G11 @ 26". Haven't really worked with them much since the 20-223AI's were so easy and time was scarce last spring.

The 20-223AI's are Dakotas with same barrels.

Accuracy
Accuracy always trumps velocity. I know of a guy who used a loaded down small cemterfire case .172" to take deer, on three or more occasions they fell like a light switch was flipped off.
