Default ATTN: KIWISHOOTER - dog town is gone

That lovely dog town that we shot at is gone. Saw just one dog in the whole town and saw no evidence of any activity around any of the mounds. Will have to check later in the summer to see if any made it other than the one I saw.

I heard that the plague has gone through where we shoot, south of you guys. The landowner said he has seen few dogs. I wouldn't think the way we cleaned them out of the ground we shot last year, there would be enough left to get sick

Not the plague in this case. The section west still has the wee little fellows running about but can't get permission to shoot there.

The plague is what took care of 'em in these parts. Surely that's what got yours too Jim.
They don't just dissapear, they die off pard.

You've gotta shoot at least 50% every year to prevent it. Do that and a town will last for yrs. We had a big one that did for over 20yrs down here til a new leasee stopped the shooting. THe very next summer it was dead, not a one to be found.

If its plague then it knows where the fence line is. Up to the fence line all is dead, 50 yards past it there are active mounds.

Hi Jim.......I guess the ranchers haver been poisoning..........lucky I wasn't coming over this year, but I'm hoping to next year. Any chance of restocking that dogtown beffore I get there??

I need a way to bring a pair home, I'm sure some shooters here would love the idea of not having to travel overseas to shoot PD's........Kiwi

kiwi, nothing to worry about, there's plenty more around if Jim's right on that fence deal. That's a very wide plain up there, surely he'll know of more before long.

Jim: How about let's shooting a few hundred together this summer? OR sooner maybe.
Won't be long til I'm ready to take a week off to break in these Coopers. It's not too far up there and not many left down this way I've heard.

Default poisoning

The land owners apparently have figured out that it's a lot more popular with the tree huggers to blame the plague than to say "I Poisoned them". This is a wide spread acceptance from Texas to Montana and the Dakotas, plus they don't have to deal with another "one of those easterners" wanting to shoot them. Our government agencies are overseeing this on one hand and on the other hand they are hollering protectionisim, anything but shooting them.
