Default I hope you guys are happy...

The model Seven 223 followed me home today. So...help me decide what to build.

17 Predator
17 tac
17 practical
17 Jav imp
17-204
20 tac
20 prac
20-250

Or go "big bore" and go 25-223?

Want something for foxes, groundhogs (mainly) and the occasional coyote. Probably go with a #4 contour finished at 22". Not sure whose barrel I'll get. Any recommendations?

i just built a 20-250 and like it a lot,but you would have to open up the bolt face if you do that, i think i will try a 17-204 next ,i like the idea of sending 25 bergers out at over 4300fps, sounds like a groundhog or crow nightmare.i like getting lilja barrels in a couple or three weeks and they shoot very good to boot.i hate to wait for months while a barrel is getting made.my .02 worth.

I'm proud of you! You have saved that poor rifle from a life of drudgery. But you forgot one very cool cartridge to throw in the mix.....17/223AI. Just thought I would help. (20 Prac AI also)

P.S get it bushed before you start. It will save lots of head aches.

Bob

Default What to Make?

I would vote for either the 17-222 or the 20-222. I think you'd like either one, but I'm partial to the 20-222 myself.

Just my thoughts.

222 might be nice in a M7.
Surely it'll kill any of the critters you listed.
Or how about the good old 17Rem?

I'm with BB, .20/.223 AI only because that's what I want my Lo-Pro AR upper to grow into!

Any of these calibres would make me green! Yes of course we're happy. If we can't have a new pet rifle, someone out there has to, so at least then we can hear the stories and see the pics, keep us posted!!

I would build a .20 Practical. Quick and easy brass forming, good performance. Maybe go with an Improved configuration if you have a taste for the exotic.
