Default magazine feeding

well im used to the rotary mags from Ruger being "sucky". their 450 bushmaster magazine feeds soooo much better for .308 Winchester.

So im wondering because ive seen a few threads here referring to savage rifles as having staggered and "inline" magazines.

Staggered to me means, m1 garand clip or m14 magazine or berretta m9 magazine.

inline as being the magazine on a 91/30 or a 1911 in 45acp

Savage keeps messing around with the platform, they will loose some followers.
Messed with bolt spacing, messed with bottom bolt release and the magazine.

The magazines of early savages were staggered in the magazine box and fed that way, as a great many do.

Then for some reason they decided that was not good enough. The box below the top round is still staggered, but the one next to feed is in the center.

They have no stock of magazine boxes for the early style. The center feed just plain sucks. Try to load the damn thing with a scoped rig, better yet use a one piece base and try and load the magazine.

Someone needs to make after market sheet metal magazines for various popular cartridges for the stagger feed, mthey would sell.

I see savage getting to big for their britches. Seems like the tacticool crowd has designed some, rather than the practical folks. IMHO it wasn't broke but they fixed it. I can easily today swing over to all Remington actions and have a few Remage rigs for me to tinker with, with the plus of a LOT more options than Savage has.
