6mm from 1980
Here is a classic I made 40 yrs ago for a good friend and customer that hunted up until a couple of yrs ago , but past away at 92 . He would call me every yr after hunting season and report what rifle he used to kill his deer.
I wanted to keep this down to 17-20 cal. , but this one came up when I was look for some more small cartridge rifles. Last edited by Les Brooks; 09-21-2020 at 02:02 AM. |

Beautiful work....
It’s very nice to see that your art is still living on,welcome aboard Les.
I wish Kevin G would see this thread,he is from Texas and has quite a collection of small calibers from the day when basket weave was much more prevalent.Perhaps he will see this and share some of his collection. Matt

another Martini 17 Rem
Kevin G helped me get back on this site. I couldn't get the Login to work correctly so he contacted Charlie and here I am back on the site. I hope he is viewing my posts
This Martini has a nice piece of English and when using a rimless case the extractor-ejector has to be timed just rite to work. I alway used reduced loads at a couple of grs below max so extraction we easy. 17 Rem is a high pressure cartridge so be careful with factory rounds. |

Les what was the finish you used on that Martini? I like the color. Did you use alkanet?

I would LOVE to have my BSA Martini Model 12 takedown action built into a rifle like that... who does this kind of work today? I think I'd have two barrels made for it, a .17 Fireball and a 6x45.
