Nice work...... pretty good looking chunk of MO walnut....... any soft spots in it?

No soft spots but the curly wood is a bite to cut without chipping out. It runs 3 different ways on the comb. made some pillars today hope to be bedded this weekend so I can shoot some groups.

Back in the day building muzzle loaders there were some times I felt like I could "sharpen some chisels to death" before I would get done on some chunks of walnut. However the absolute worst wood was curly ash (mesquite and myrtle might be close)

Progress on gun looks great..... cant wait to see that wood all oiled up....

All pillar bedded sanded an first coat of alknet root. Will start filling the grain tomorrow with timberlux finish

I don't know what you paid for that stock, but I bet it was less than it was worth. Beautiful figure in that one.
