The old Schroeder brass, made from hornet cases is lower capacity.
I have lots of the better Fiocchi brass and Tom Thomas was reported to have thousands of cases, never knew if it went up in the Outdoorsman's fire a few years back.
Tom Thomas still has the brass, I purchased some from him last year.

Can contact him at Blue Ridge Outfitters in New Milton

I think I was getting right at 3450 fps with Enforcer and the 17 grain vmax bullets.

Curious as to what "unformed" amounts to in this instance. As to cost, I agree! There are times when cost forces one to make do with what he already has.

Probably straight unprimed 5.75MM Velodog cases. Apparently the last time Fiocchi had a production run was in the mid 1990's, so these are getting kind of scarce. I think it might be more prudent to simply use .17 Squirrel, or even download the 17 Hornet, eeks, or even (don't bash me over the head for this please) get a match reamer made to get every last bit of accuracy from the little 17hmr.

If going that route, instead of the 17HMR, I would just get a .17 Squirrel.

Interestingly enough there was a 6mm Velodog cartridge.
