It also show's that sometimes we assume factory barrels won't shoot.

bill how do the ballistics compare between the 20-223ai and a straight .204 ruger? or does the ruger still have a noteable advantage?

From shooting both, they are so close, it really does not matter, in my opinion. FPS and accuracy seem to be running neck and neck, in my loads and shooting.
The 204 may have a slight advantage, in that you just size, trim, load and shoot, where as the AI needs prior forming and all first, then it is just a matter of reloading, with just neck sizing.
I have both and take either one, as my second rifle, when ever I take the 20 SCC for a run on critters. Hope this will help you, with your question. Bill K

Default terminal effect

The main reason I like the 20's, other than the accuracy. Launching, chunkage, red mist and just overall destruction to varmint. I took my friend's Tac 20 out for a spin this afternoon and all of the above happened with frequency. A 32 gr VMax at over 4000 fps will put a smile on your face anytime!!

"Reason for loving the 20's"

Instead of giving all the reasons, it's easier to just say what's NOT to love about the 20's!!!!

Default loving the 20's

because of info shared on this site by people like you bill. I have an addiction.
my first 20 was a 204 cooper, then a savage 204, and now the count is out of control. one 20ah, two killer bee's, three 20p's, two 20tac's, two 20vt's , one 20vtr, and 4 204's .. I now need therapy or at least better notes. every time I go to reload, I say to myself no more gun's. because I haven't even started talking about the 223's, 22-250's and 220 swift's yet. those used to be my favorite's but nooo somebody had to go and talk about how great these little 20 cal's are.
less powder, less recoil, less heat, as good or better aerobatic action on critters. what's not to love

Default 20 cal

Just got back from spending the day in a couple dog patches with my good friend out west. I had my 20-222 and 204 Ruger. I'm still working out some neck thickness problems with the 20-222 but holy cow does this son of a gun shoot. Flat will turn prairie dogs inside out with minimum recoil. The 204 is like shooting a cannon compared to the 20-222, but will also deliver a punch. 20 cals. are the only way to go when shooting varmints and little bitty holes in targets. I'm looking at possibly gearing up to build a 20scc. Yeah I know I'm hooked.

That is one problem 2Skeet, with the 17 & 20 calibers. They grab you and your wallet. They are just so addictive. Bill K
