Default Wilson barrel experience

I'm considering a Wilson .204 ss 1/10 twist light varmint blank for a rebarrel project. Primary use will be prairie dogs with 32-39 gr bullets. Other option is sporter(#4) 1/12 twist. Are these blanks known for sub .5 moa? It will be chambered in 20 practical.

From what I have seen, from other's posting re: Wilson barrels, they are as good as many others and I have also heard that more than one gun maker uses Wilson barrels in their products. More often than not, any good barrel with the right load workup will shoot very decent groups. Bill K

One other option is a Criterion ss 1/11 twist heavy sporter. Thanks Mike.

Cooper uses Wilson barrels in their rifles, and we all know how they usually shoot.

I've only got four of them, and they all can shoot better than I can. I'd opine that they are "tip-top".

Never owned a Cooper but I do have a Wilson in 6.8. (.270) Was working on a Wildcat in 6.8. Have a 6.8 SPC in a Savage and was wondering why no one ever tried a 6.8 BR? Made a dummy round and had a reamer cut to those specs. Didn't want to spend BIG $$ on a barrel and not be happy with the round so I started looking for a barrel. Got turned onto one on one of the Auction sites. Two up for bid but I only got one. Was told that the Wilson" was crap because it wasn't lapped? (Old guys are pretty hard headed at times and stuck in their ways)
Got my barrel for about $125.00, had it chambered up in 6.8 BR. Turns out it's one of my better barrels. Shoots bug holes and cleans like a dream. IMHO, Wilson is a go to for a good barrel. Don't need a BIG NAME to produce good stuff.

Wilson said their barrels are lapped. They did not say they were hand lapped.

In addition to Cooper, I believe some Winchester M70 HVSS calibers used Wilson match barrels. I have the M70's in .223 and .243, and both shoot around 0.4MOA. Back about 25 years ago, Wilson also made military barrels for AR's/M16's. I used two of them to build a 20" HBAR and an 16" XM177, and both shoot quite well also. When I wanted to get another AR barrel later, I was told they weren't available any more as the entire military barrel production was sold out, but the match barrels were still available.

Here is my Cooper m21 204 ruger with it's factory Wilson barrel at 100 yards.

I might have done better but there was a decent cross-wind that day.
