Default Ruger American Predator in 6.5 Grendel?

I know the caliber is a bit large for here but I actually was more interested in the rifle. I shoot that round in an AR and since I'm old a decrepit I hate to have to hunt for the brass so I'd like to try the same round in a bolt action. I already have a Ruger precision rifle in .223 and love it. It's OK with factory ammo but shoots like a laser with hand loads. I wondered if the Ruger american predator could shoot as well. I don't plan on getting one of those fancy Chassis' that the long range people like only because I can't afford it. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

You didn't change the stock to one of those aluminum chassis? If and when I get one I want it bone stock. Can't see buying a rifle and spending near the same amount on replacing the factory stock. I understand the rifle is fairly light. The .204 is a nice round and you are doing some nice shooting with it. Thanks for the reply!

I bought one in 300 BLK for short range shooting on the farm. Liked the fact that factory ammo from 90 gr to 200+ gr is readily available. Mounted a low power scope on it, 1x6 30mm, and sighted it in at 75 yards at a friends range.
After firing 3 shots with 110 gr rounds I thought I had missed the paper. Walking down to look at the target I found 3 shots all touching in the black! The dark background prevented me from seeing it.
Light, handy with short barrel, accurate detachable magazines and a decent trigger for less than $400 bucks works for me.

Default Grendel

I have the Grendel Ruger. It shoots an easy 1/2" group. Trigger came set at 3 lbs. I managed to set it to 2 lbs. Also shortened the magazine so it holds 2 rnds.

A good friend loaned me his new ruger am.and 200 factory rds. to take pding and break in.All 123 eld's.Put it on paper, 1 1/2 inch. OK for brand new, but. .... Anyway, still doesn't do any better. Borescoped it and found that the leade looks to have been bored off center. One side ( 2 of the lands start at least 1/4 inch further than the rest. Not knowing that that would affect accuracy for sure, but I believe it wouldn't help it a lot. Anyone else who might have an issue like this? Wonder if Ruger would warranty this? With all the talk about the Creedmoor, the Grendel just might be a sleeper.
