Default 17 hornet, is it just my rifle

I seem to be getting some pretty high velocities from my cz. today I shot a .379 five shot group with 12.44 gr of aa1680 with a 20 gr vmax at 3830 fps.

25 gr vmaxes shot a .50 5 shot group at 3515 fps, now that's a groundhog thumping load.

That’s some nice groups there Bob and some nice velocity!

If yours is a 17AH then that’s about the same velocity as I get with my contenders and Ruger 77/AH with 1680 and the 20s. I’ve never shot the 25s in them. But my groups are only 1/2”-5/8” with occasional sub 1/2” groups.

I’ve been wanting to get out my Chrony and finish working up a load for my CZ 17 Hornady hornet with a pacnor Barrel and see what it’s running.

Not just yours, home swagged 17gn with a long .530” jacket. 4 rounds in .188” fifth blew it to .6ish. They shoot alright. Fast flat and cheap to run.

Same with me Matt: Sounds and looks good. Be thinking about adding a 17 WSM or CZ 17 Hornet to the fold
This makes me lean towards the hornet. Bill K

Get the 17 Hornet! 100 times better than the WSM!

Comparing the 17 Hornet and the 17 WSM is like comparing a Cadillac and a Yugo. Two totally different breeds of cat........

I've got a great shooting B mag. But I love Rugers and I just wanted a Better rifle! So got about a year I was back forth on which one to get wsm Ruger or 17 hornet Ruger? Shot my buddy's 17 Hornet Ruger and being able to reload for it I went with 17 hornet ! Now my reloads are right around 17 Wsm velocitys! But at least I know what in getting! Glad I got the 17 Hornet!
