Default Aa-2200

AA has a website with data for their powders, and 17H is included.

I worked up to 13 grains, with v-max and used the same charge with nagels, all 20 grain bullets. No pressure signs in my gun. Nagels were accurate, I did not shoot groups with the v-max, was just seeing where I was at , pressure wise with them for future loads, as I bought factory loads, on sale to use for my brass. When the factory loads are gone I will load and shoot v-max for groups. My factory loads may last my lifetime as I only shoot the occasional fox or groundhog around the house with it.

I did find AA's site and with the 20 grain V-max they show 11.2 to 13.2 for loads with AA2200. Will load a few around the 12.9 mark and see how they do, then play around that area, depending.
I like 2200 in my 20 cal and it should work well in this small 17 hornet. But my present load with AA1680 will be hard to beat, but if it equals that load, then I may carry some 2200 also. Bill K

I think AA2200 cleans easier than AA1680 in most cases, accuracy, when all is said and done seems to be about equal.

Default Aa 2200

Please keep us posted on your results in your 17H with AA 2700. I’m just getting started with the 17H.
Thanks

It's very accurate. W680 and AA1680 are very acccurate, AA2200 is more accurate in my rifle, T/C 20" barrel, 17AH.........11.7gr - 12.2, shots touching. About 1gr. more than 1680. I didn't chrono it.

I have been using AA 1680 and have a very accurate load, but in my other small caliber/cases AA220 is also and usually give more FPS. It may be the same in the 17 Hornet, so that is why I want to check in out and compare it to my 1680 loads. Bill K

Have you tried any or given any thought to trying Hodgdon CFE BLK in your 17 Hornet?

I have a friend that is using CFE BLK w/20 grainers and he's getting very good results. I'd have to check with him for his exact load but if I recall he's using 12.4gr CFE BLK and a 20gr bullet.
