I may have to check into it since I'm thinking about a liner. I got a 17HMR reamer from Manson years ago that said on it for Redman linner. That rifle shoots really good. Building up a nice Mossberg that I may reline but kind of running out of steem these days so going is slow. Might be good since I pay more attention to the workmanship.

Well, after emailing Dave, to get one of these 17 Aguila reamers that he has advertised on his website at $20.00, an employee emailed me back.

Truth in advertising folks.

Dave probably did not inform his employee that these were on sale and on hand, apparently not an item that is as yet unproduced. Or perhaps he does not know Dave has this listed at $20.

This is confusing, as it is clearly listed here: https://mansonreamers.files.wordpres...ters-tools.pdf for $20.

Mr H.

We make the .17 Aguila as a special order tool only and this reamer would be priced at $175.00 with a solid pilot diameter of .1665 for use in a barrel liner. Production of this reamer will take about 10 weeks and we require payment and shipping information to confirm an order. May I suggest that you consider the 17 HM2 as this is a cataloged tool and priced at $80.00 with a solid pilot.

Sincerely
Clyde Moore

It was update 6/18/19 no less.

Maybe you have to specify it as a "writers tool" maybe those aren't kept in the "inventory"

I will confess that back when the 17 Aguila ammo was easy to find and cheap I used a 17Mach2 reamer for a 17 Aguila chamber by running the mach2 in short. I checked several times as I ran in the reamer to be sure of the correct depth. I still have the 10/22 barrel but don't remember if it cycled the bolt. I still wan't to do a cheap bolt gun but brownells doesn't have any of the 17 caliber liners available. Maybe I should just contact Redman.

Edit to add: I checked the Redman web site and it looks like they prefer to sell in bulk to places like Brownells. Guess I'll just wait for Brownells to re-supply that liner.

So, clarification was quickly provided on the price. Yes the "Writers Tool" price was special, not the standard listed price for an item being made to order.

Yes, I ordered it. We will see when it gets here what I can do with it. A small .22 LR rifle is itching for a spare barrel to reline.

Thank this thread comments for getting me running with this idea. I figure once I get my use out of the tool I can afford to trade it for a couple of boxes of that 17Aguila ammo.

I called Brownells and they said they would have the 17 caliber liners in at the end of July.

Reamer arrived, it sure is tiny, but a beautifully crafted item.

Yep, still end of July for the 1 in 9" twist .172" Redman liners.

Then again, the 17HM2 is starting a comeback.
