Thermal is a game changer, for sure, at the moment spotters more than thermal sights.
Deer hunters heading out before first light use then to spot animals on open land and in woods. If sitting in a blind you can be prepared with a spotter.
Also very good for finding animals (If you don’t have a dog) that run away when shot, either those shot at last light or even in daylight, in cover or on open land. They can get an heat signature through some cover, but they aren’t magic. With a spotter you can sometimes see a deer in cover when it’s daylight, but, look at the same place with your Swaro binoculars and you cant find it.
With some of the cheaper ones it’s not always easy to ID animals, especially if they aren’t moving,or, are at a funny angle to you. Ask the guy over here who shot a farmers Spaniel thinking it was a sleeping fox.
Thermal sights are not yet as good as top NV stuff. Won’t be long before the catch up though. Minimum 50 refresh rate needed to be sure you’re seeing in real time.
Some over here say thermals are cheating...as they carry on using all the other modern equipment to hunt with...
Regards,Ken.

Of course, a trip to TX wouldn't be a trip to TX, if you didn't shoot any Red Dirt Dogs.

Bolt gun in 17 Tactical, 30gr KG's. Reliable combination, no reason to change any of that...

The Yote Whisperer got this one into 25 yds before we saw it, I should have held a little higher at that range, my fault..still sealed the deal. I was using his Mark III 60mm Trijicon ( IR Hunter) don't look through one of those unless you have your checkbook handy, take my word for it...

Default Red Diet Yotes, Thermal Scope

Very nice. How does that 22 Grendel compare to say a 22-250 ? Not just for the AR, but say in a bolt rifle ? Bill K

In Texas, west of Dallas, that's as much detail as I can go into.
