Question Sources for bulk lead wire

Can anyone suggest a distributor for purchasing spools of lead wire (.185") for making 6MM bullets? We're currently buying it from Corbin’s, but they're prices are very high. My dad estimates that they charge about $4 per pound. He lives near Sacramento California, so a source that he can buy in larger quantities and drive to (to keep shipping charges down) would be greatly appreciated. As an alternative, I live near Seattle, WA, so a source close enough for me to drive to would work also. I appreciate the help.

John

John, I'd just buy ready made cores to your specs from Charlie hood. I doubt I will make any more cores for my self once my lead wire runs out.

Default thoughts.

brunoshooters.com of Phoenix would be closeby. Lead has sky rocketed like all
"hard assets" so nowhere will it be the pennies a pound of yesteryear.

Reportedly there is a lot of lead wire used to weight ropes and things on boats... so any boat supply would be a possible. Gheee if he is in Calif??? And boat scrap yards???

Richard corbin, rceco.com, is as fair as anyone, but again, not the prices of yesterday. And the more you buy, but then there are fuel surcharges...

Should have thought of this a couple years back... luck.

John, I get mine from:

Crown Metals
121 E Washington St
Milwaukee, WI , 53204-2494
Phone: 414-384-6500
FAX: 414-384-2855

When you talk with them, make sure they know you want wire for bullet making...there's a difference between 'corroding' and 'non-corroding' lead wire. They will alloy it any percentage of antimony you'd like. Good people and great to do business with.
