Default Std 280

if you will look in the black nosler manual, you will see a load with a 160g with IMR 7828. I shot this load at 2900-2950 with amazing accuracy, and our bullet of choice at that time was the 160g Sierra BTSP. Play with primers and seat the bullet to touch the lands.

Ramos,
While the 270W and the 280REM are near identical cousins, the advantage typically goes to the 280 due to the wider range of .284 (7MM) bullet weights available to choose from vs the more limited selection of .277 bullets currently available. I have both in my cabinet, but the 280 got the greater amount of usage over time. No disrespect to the venerable 270W, JMHO from experience Regards, Charlie

Default 280

280 pressures run about 10K less than 270 with the same load, thus some amazing velocities with extreme accuracy.

I'm a huge fan of the 7MM Rem Mag with 160-175 grain bullets.

That said, I'll never be without a 280 Rem for the 140-150 grain range of 7MM bullets. And in conclusion, both cartridges will do pretty much the same thing in terms of animals they will kill effectively. Other than maybe the slight advantage in terms of case trimming which is not a biggie for me in a huntng cartridge, I don't see the 280 AI version being that much better for normal hunting situations and ranges unless you just have to own something that's a little bit different from what the neighbor down the street has.

Also, an affirmative on the 280 versus 270 comments, both in terms of pressure and in terms of bullet selections.

Be Proactively Safe:

Yesterday I did something that I normally don’t do. I picked up a hitch hiker. After he got into my car, he said to me, “I’m surprised that you picked me up. I could be a serial killer.”

I replied, “I'm not worried because what are the odds of there being two serial killers in the same car at the same time?”

He suddenly got very quiet, and he got out of my car at the next stop light.

Women and cats will do as they please. Men and dogs should relax and just get used to the idea.

Last year I joined a support group for procrastinators. We haven’t met yet.

Why do I have to press one for English when you’re just going to transfer me to someone I can't understand anyway?

My 280 with 140 Accubonds and RE19 is my go to rifle, Ridiculously accurate and does a superb job of putting game on the ground. Had a 280AI that I liked but my 280 fits me better and I didn't see the need for more so I let the 280AI go.
