Cooper 38 chamberings
Does any one have a list of all the cartridges which were chambered in the Cooper 38?

I have a model 38 in a 20 Vartarg and I too had thought about making it into another caliber since I have another 20 VT. I called Cooper last week to see what was available and was told the 38 is no longer being made. They would not consider rebarreling mine since the 38 is no longer supported.
I don't know what they would do if a 38 was sent in for repairs if they no longer support it. |

Maybe like Jim did, call Cooper and I would think they could tell you what they chambered that model in, when they had it on the market.

I have one in 22 Hornet, and I remember they made the M38 in 221FB also, but that might the longest cartridge. I know they changed the bolt at one time too, making the lugs a bit bigger/stronger.

My one and only
Model 38 is a 17HeBee and it shoots very well,wish I bought more 38s.
JimReed I would be tempted to leave that 38 alone as it is in my eyes a collector item. Matt

I am kind of a Model 38 nut. Currently own 4 Model 38's but have owned other ones as well. The early early Model 38's were chambered in 17CCM and 22CCM. They were actually repeaters. After that the Model 38's were single shot rifles. I own a 20VT, 17 HeBee, 17 Fireball(now a 17/23SMC), and a 218 Mashburn Bee. They also made Model 38's chambered 22 Hornet, 17 Ackley Hornet(owned one), 22 Squirrel, 17 Mach IV, 218 Bee, and I'm sure other wildcats based on the Bee and Hornet Case. To me there is nothing better then a Model 38 Classic. They are light, handle great, and shoot fantastic.

Thank you for some of the history. I also like the 38 and have a 20 VT and 22 Hornet. It's a shame that Cooper stopped producing it. |

Add to post #7: The 19 Calhoon and 22 K Hornet for chamberings offered from Cooper factory.
