Default Remington 591 possibilities

Looking at a very nice 591 at local shop and wondered what could be made from the basics. Would love to do something in a Center fire like a Hornet, K-Hornet, Mink, etc out of this although don't have any particulars. Anyone out there been creative with one of these?
Thanks,
BRKHornet

I did one to a Hornet roughly following Calhoon instructions, it worked out just fine. Larry

google James Calhoon. He converted a Rem 591 to a 19 Calhoon for his wife, it was really nice looking. Shoots really well too.

Thanks for the replies. I discovered the rifle is actually a model 592M 5mm. Not sure if the tube-feed is an advantage or disadvantage in doing a centerfire build on one of these. Perhaps someone can shed some light on this.

Thanks,

Can you tell me what the drawings include and what is required as far as machinery to build one?

Sounds neat, is he still using the tube feed? Barrel supplier?

Thanks,

Doubt if the tube feed would still be usuable, probably too many differences. The case is bigger around for one. As for machinery. A lathe for sure. And a mill would also be really nice for milling the extractor slot.

You could also talk to Dennis Olson in MT...he has been converting the 58X and 59X to centerfires for awhile. He will sell you the bolt front end you need to convert it to centerfire...its about $300.
