19 Badger
For those out there with the 19 Badger what are your loads, components and resulting velocities. I am particularly interested in loads using the 32 grain Saber Tips. I like to know the real world capabilities of this round. Thanks Bill

I loaded a bunch of one of Jim's recommended loads (27.5gr BLC-2, 36gr Dbl HP, Fed 205M, Rem cases, 2.208 COAL) because I had a prairie dog shoot coming up and didn't have a lot of time to experiment. I haven't chronographed the load but Jim says 3820fps.
I'm not getting the accuracy I expected out of it, and I expect to pull about 300 bullets before long. |

Just realized you said "Badger". Above load is for 19-223. Sorry. |

As stated above I am also particularly interested in what powders brands and charge weights to achieve top velocities. Please chime in guys as I know there are some 19 Badger owners out there. Bill

Grdhgkiller,
I'm using a 19FB which is quite close to a badger in case capacity. Using reloader7 powder I get the following: 32gr sabre tip, 18 grs R7 gives average of 3724fps. 36gr HP, 17.4grs R7 gives ave. 3436fps. Barrel was 24" until today when i cut 4" off. Will test on Thursday over chrony. Best 3 shot groups have been .178 and .25 @ 100yds. I tried H4198 and got pretty similar speeds but accuracy was slightly worse, but not enough to bother about for varmint shooting. PS. No signs of pressure with these loads in my rifle. M700, Pac-Nor barrel. Ken.

19 Badger
my load: 32 Gr. DHP, 15.8 Gr. Of RL7, WSR Primer, RP cases. Vel. = 3550.
This load gives me 1/2-3/4 inch groups, depending on me. ...D |

Mine is exactly the same, I can manage to stay under 1/2" all the time and I don't shoot a lot anymore. 4198 ( AR 2207 ) same load same accurracy, same point of impact. In fact you could mix them up in a box and not pick the difference. My big regret is we can't get 1680 down here

19 Badger 17.6 grains of the new AA 2200 that Jim sells with the 32 grain bullet...understand AA is selling AA2200 commercially again too. Velocity is 3513 fps. Groups are 1/2inch.
Using 19.7 grains of AA2200 in my 19 Fireball that Jim built for me. Again with a 32 grain bullet. Velocity is 3657 fps. Accuracy is outstanding 5/16 inch. |

Been to range today and fired 5 x 7 shot groups with moderator on, worst was 1" and best not much better at 7/8". Before finishing i took the mod. off and fired a 3 shot clover leaf .25 but impact was 1 5/8" higher than shots with mod on. People say a mod usually reduces group size, not on this occasion. All loads were 36gr HP with 17.4 R7 in 19FB.
Fired 10 shots over Chrony after reducing barrel to 20". High of 3418, low of 3308 and ave. of 3381. Ken. PS. All groups witnessed by range officer.

Maybe the moderator causes the barrel harmonics to change enough to cause it.
