Default CZ 527 American rechamber?

Greetings,
I have a CZ 527 American in .204 Ruger that I would like to get rechambered to .20 Vartarg. Bob Green did a 17 Remington to 17 Fireball for me, but it was a Varmint model with the heavier barrel. The American barrel seems to be alot lighter contour. Has anybody done a rechamber on an American? Wondering if there is enough barrel to set back and rechamber? Thanks

about a year ago i had Bob set back and rechamber a sporter weight Howa 204 to 20 vartarg, it worked out perfectly. I would be willing to bet that the CZ will be the same way.

I have to ask why?
What is it you can do with a 20 vartog, that you can't do with a 204?
If you are putting a custom barrel on it, that's another thing.
I have done a plenty of things like that but if I had to pay a gunsmith, no way. Kenny

I have had two done. From 204 to 20 VT and what I call a VT short. Just used the factory barrel and set it back.

Default Kinda curious too...

I too recently came across a CZ 527 American in .204R and am contemplating sending it to Marty at Twisted Barrel to rechamber the OEM pencil barrel to a .20 VT walk-a-bout.

I know that these are pencil barrels are hot enough to loose accuracy by the 4-5 shot to be sure if shooting the .204R. So, I'm curious how long it takes this barrel to get hot shooting the .20 VT?

My thoughts exactly... I have yet to hear a reply from someone who has actually done an American. When I get ready, i'm just going to send mine to Bob Green and let him decide if he has enough barrel for the rechamber. As far as the heating issue, as thin as those barrels are I would think they would heat up pretty quick even in a VT.

This is where the 30 Carbine derivative cartridges out-do the Fireball cartridges. Almost identical velocities but, much less heat!!! Though I have several Garin rifles, this comes mainly from the experience of long use of the 19 Badger, 221 FB & 20 Vartarg cartridges. The smaller barrels may heat faster, but they also cool faster, too!
Just My thoughts...

P.S. When Marty did my 20 VT from a CZ Varmint 204, I also had a 204 American pencil bbl. and he said it did not have enough "meat" on it to do the re-chamber-That's been several years ago, but I don't know of anyone doing the conversion on the thinner American bbl. I would like to hear someone's experience that has done, or will do this....
