Why would Hornady jump on a 17 Hornet when they won't make the more popular 17 Fireball?

I say the more the merrier. If someone produces a 17 hornet for around $500-$600 I will own one.

It would be nice to see some factory brass but I bet they will "re-invent" the 17AH as we know it.

The 17 FB has proven to be extremely popular, I frequent two ranges on for the last 2-3 years I have counted 43 shooters with a Rem 17 FB, for nearly all of them it was their first ever sub-cal rifle.... I have 7 rifles now in 17 FB...

Just a WAG, our 17AH won't chamber in the 17 Hornady. The 17 AH will have a little more case capacity for the reasons Doug said earlier. I may now even buy a Ruger 77/17 Hornady. Hornady should be congratulated.

Just maybe..
Some neat little actioned rifles will come out of this down the road.
Maybe Ruger would offer a number 1 again for this neat little Hornet. Matt

i am always glad to see companies like hornady expanding the small caliber lineup. I look forward to hearing more info on it soon.

Matt that #1 would be a great idea. I can't recall any company that has come close to the different calibers Hornady introduces yearly. They have a good feel on the pulse of the shooting sports. I would have guessed a small 20 would have been made before the 17 Horn.(17AH) though. Maybe Steve H is watching, think a small 20 cal.
