Had to make sure it wasn't 4/1/13 already!

Default hmmmm...

Could it be a .20 HMR with non lead alloy bullets? You say new caliber? Not new cartridge? or both?
I would surely hope it would work with existing actions or if not I'd predict a quick death of the round! Remember the 5mm Rem? : )

I have seen 2650 ish fps on several chronys for the 17HMR, so does that mean it will surpass that or the number on the box. Winchest braggs about new stronger brass for the 17HMR also, maybe they will load it a little hotter.

I was beginning to think I dreamt reading about Winchester making stronger brass for the 17HMR because I could only think of seeing it once -- your post is now the second time. I have a semi-auto for 17HMR and I know I'm not supposed to shoot that ammo in a semi-auto but I've had it for over 7 years and never had a single problem -- knock on wood -- because I clean it every 20 or 30 rounds. I've seen reports of people running the 17HMR through a chrony at over 2700fps but it was a hot day -- over 95 degrees and they probably left the ammo out in the sun. It would really be nice to see a new fast rimfire but with the going price of the hi velocity 22 magnum and the 17HMR I don't know if I want to get into any new rimfire ammo/rifles right now.

It be great to see even faster stuff but what will the bullet options be? Would like to see an xtp option like the .17 hmr has along side the v-max offering.

I bet it’s a 17 RF

14 sounds awesome but imo too small for factory tolerances.
A 20 sounds good but there is already the 5mm Mag
18 would set the world on fire but its day has not yet come

Just some meaningless thoughts…. I can change my mind before my head hits the pillow tonight

My vote is that it is only a new bullet/brass/powder combination on the 17HMR!
But, I am pretty pessimistic about neat new stuff being neat new stuff!
Bill
p.s. Unless it is a CZ 17HH!

My vote is that it will be a new, light weight, non-lead projectile at a higher speed. Wishful thinking maybe....but maybe just more marketing hype than substance.
