20 br loads with 45 gr hornady
noticed there has been no info posted for this bullet on the forum, decided to try some yesterday with N540. the starting load was 31.5 gr, based on published data with a 45 gr berger.
well....in my rifle that starting load was doing 3894 fps, iwas sure the case primer pocket had expanded rendering it useless. i was plesently surprised when the primer went in snug. anyone know what the upper limits for a 45 gr bullet should be? dropped the loads back to 29.0-31.0 and will shoot this morning. just seems to me 3894 is a bit much for a 45 gr bullet. any thoughts as to why hornady didn't make the 45 gr bullet a vmax, has anyone shot anything with one? thought i would test the picture posting here going to build one of these in the near future, the 17 tsunami, just happen to have a 17 cz varnint barrel that's been laying around for over a year |

tsunami
What are the differences between a tsunami and a 17 rem? I am currently working on loads for a .200 short 17 Rem.
Thanks, Drew |

tsunami
the 17 tsunami, for all intents and purposes is a 17 mach 4 with a .250 length neck. the relation ship to yout case would have to be based on case capacity and shoulder angle.

Bob I have quite a few 45 and some 50 grain 20 caliber bullets but none of the Hornady 45s yet. The 40 V-max shoots so well I just have not got exited about trying em out. Maybe this weekend I’ll give it a try and see how they do???
