New maker of Sako parts

I was just sent info about an outfit in Post Falls Id.

That is making Sako action parts.

Extractors, ejectors, springs, firing ins and

their own actions.

his is new info to me. Figured others might lek to know to.

Bat actions have been around quite awhile,
Interesting there making Sako parts there actions are kind of a 700 foot print.

I know BAT makes a Sako style extractor kit but I'm not sure they make anything that's specifically for Sako actions unless it's something they make that just happens to also work in a Sako receiver/bolt.

Regardless, one thing is for sure, anything you get from BAT Machine will be top notch. My 338 Lap Imp is built on a BAT action. I think I waited around 6-8 months to get the action but it was worth the wait. Their actions are a thing of beauty and just crazy smooth.

I sent Bat a question and just rec'd their reply: "These parts are made to

fit our own BAT actions, they may or may not fit Sako, or other brands. They

may be close enough to fit, or could be reworked until they do".

Today I got another message from them saying

that ALL Sako's have the same extractor.

That's good to know, for those of us that have several Sako's.

Might be handy to just buy a spare and keep it.

I bent one with an over load a few years ago. At the time

a gunsmith told me he couldn't find a new one, but, had

straightened the bent one. i haven't shot it since.

Sure seemed to me that as many Sako's as there are out here

such parts should be available.

Some people aren't so lucky and they can go flying out into the shooters shoulder or worse yet their face.

The Sako style doesn't really have anything securing it in place and for that reason I've never been a fan of Sako style extractors and always opt for the pinned M16 style extractor but that's on Rem 700 bolts. I'm not sure if you can retrofit a pinned M16 style extractor in a Sako bolt.

I think the early 46's and 461's had longer extractors than the later models.

Hope all is well.

Not according to the Bat guy. I asked specifically about
the L 61 and 461, as I have one of each.

Might be good to ask and make sure again though.

Doing great, growing older everyday.
How you been doing? Is your health OK ?

On a early ( mid 60's ?) L461 action with a M70 type of trigger. The actin imported from from Europe mid 90's.
This action has what they call a long extractor, one piece,made of spring steel.
It measures 1.475 L x.155 W on one end and .147 on the other end.

I have a 40XBBR that has what I think is the newer style Sako extractor.( I think they changed in the late 60's- early 70's)
It measures.350L X .145W with a spring and plunger behind it.

Sako extractors are not all the same. I have fitted several over the years and model to model some are, and some are not..
