Default Hi all.....

Hi All,

New to the site. Pretty much every site made comment; if you were a Hornet lover, this was the place to be. So here I am

Long time 22 hornet fan( owned over 20 through out the years)

I currently have 2;a Cz 527 American and an old Fox Ridge TC contender barrel set up on a dedicated contender rifle frame.

My question is for those that have or remember the TC Custom shop of old.

The barrel I have is a 24" bull barrel blued. I ran a cleaning rod with patch through it to see what the twist rate was. The barrel is not marked with the twist rate

I bought the barrel probably 20 years ago and honestly dont remember what it was. After a few trys it looks like I keep getting right around 12". Would that be correct, a 1-12 twist rate?

Thanks in advance for the info

Welcome to the site! I have some 22 Hornets, really like them. My first was/is a CZ 527FS in 22 Hornet, a favorite of mine. Yes I remember the custom shop, ordered four Contender barrels from them. All of them 20", standard taper, 22LR, 22Hornet, 223 and 38Spl. You will find that 22 Hornet is spoken and shot here. I believe my barrel is 1-12, loves 40GR Varmageddons and Lil Gun powder.

Welcome to the fold Dave. I also have a custom 14 in in .223 from TC.
Don't have a 22 hornet now, but have and play with the 17 Hornet (HH). fun little round for sure, as your 22 hornets are. Looking forward to more of your information and remember we do like photo's.. Bill K

Contender with a 15" Fox Ridge 22 Hornet Barrel. One turn in 12". I'm currently playing with 8 Hornets one a 17 Hornady and the others the 22 variety. Three CZ's as well as the T/C. You were correctly directed when you ended up here.

Much thanks. Does the 1-12 twist open up the variety of grain weights that can be used?

I ask because I have quite a few speer 50 gr tnts I wanted to try but I know my 1-16 CZ would hold em...

BTW, thats a beautiful contender you have there...

I must have drawn the short straw. I only have four 22 Hornet rifles and a 12" TC pistol.

The 1-12 should handle the 50 grain bullets with out any problems. The CZ's 1-16 might surprise you with the 50 grain TNT's. There not overly long bullets.
