Default 1969 Sako Action H&R Ultra Wildcat in 17/223 caliber FS - REDUCED

These were a production version of the famous O'Brien Rifle Co smallbore customs from the early 1960's.H&R bought O'Brien out in the late 1960's and made the genuine O'Brien version until 1975, after which they merely began marking "Ultra Wildcat" on the barrels of otherwise factory Sako A1 Sporters.*Based on the serial number, this gun was probably made right around 1969 to 1970. The 17/.223 chambering was dropped by 1972.

These guns were made by H&R using Sako Vixen actions with Douglas .17 cal barrels. Reinhart Fajen of MO made the Fancy* Walnut California style Monte Carlo stocks which were designed by OBrien rifles' Swedish stockmaker Nils Hultgren. These a probably the sexiest miniature California style rifles this side of a Weatherby Varmint Master. IMHO they are a prettier rifle than an a Deluxe grade Sako Vixen and just as rare. The stock is AAA Fancy broken fiddleback with nearly 100% curl down its length. Pretty peice of wood.

This gun is in beautiful shape for a nearly 50 year old rifle. It' s all factory origional and has got 100% of both wood and metal finish and only a few minor safe dings in the wood. I have never fired the rifle and judging by the bolt face and feed ramp, I doubt its been fired outside the factory. No box* or paperwork come with the gun as I don't have them.

The gun is 5lbs 14oz with a 20"barrel and 13.5"LOP as standard.. The 17/223 round is the Wildcat predesso to the 17 Remington. It is very simply loaded by necking down .223 brass with a proper 17/223 die set. No case trimming or neck turning required. Velocity and load data is the same as the 17 Remington.

My price is reduced to $1,195 shipped to your FFL . I can also provide a new set of Hornady 17/223 dies for $75 extra.
This is as low as I will go on this gents. No counter offers or trades please.
Any prospective buyer MUST post a firm "I'll take it" on this thread before going to PMs for payment/ shipping arrangents.

Thanks.
