Default Reloder 17 in a .17 Predator

I was just going through my reloading supplies and realized I had bought some Reloder 17. Cannot remember why I bought it but I assume it was a good idea at the time.

Anyone use Reloder 17 in a .17 Predator with the 30 grain BT bullets, either the Golds or the old Berger 30 Gr boattails?

My pet load in my case which is near identical to a Predator is 26 grains of VV-550 which is good for 4100fps.

The ADI comparison chart Shows RL15 faster and RL19 slower than N550. Looks like it would be a good fit for your rifle.

Apparently reloader #17 is very good in a 3 1/2" 12 bore for driving 1,000gr. projectiles at 2,600fps, using re-worked .5 Browning cases for brass. Not quite small bore, unless you were originally thinking about carriage driven cannons.

Daryl,

No, I thought my first post was quite to the point. Isn't a 1000gr projecticle at 2600fps a little fur unfriendly?

I know where Reloder 17 falls on various burn charts which has me thinking that it may work. I was hoping that someone had used it so I could determine a more accurate starting point.

Thanks for the replies.

I have not tried it Troy, but it sounds like it would be suitable. I'm interested in your results, so keep me posted....
