Default 17 cal barrel choice

Going to rebarrel one of my 17 fireballs. Up here in Canada the barrel is going to cost me $775 plus gunsmith work.

I only have a choice of a Pacnor 3 or 5 grove or a Lilja.

Thinking of going 9 twist for 25 Gr.

I think the board members here always suggest the 3 grove Pacnor?

I recently rebarreled a 17FB with a Pac Nor 3 groove 1-9 super match. Shooting the Nagel 25s, it' a laser. Either way, don't believe you could go wrong.

About 10 years ago, we had Greg Tannel build three 17 Ackley Hornets, and had him order the Pac-Nor Super Match 3 groove stainless barrels. Would do it all over again in a New York minute......the three guns easily shoot sub 1/8" groups @ 100yds off the bench. Needless to say, they are wonderful crow rifles.....if we miss, it's on us, not the equipment.

With those two to choose from, you really need to look no further. Both are outstanding barrel makers!

I got a Pacnor SS SUPER MATCH barrel but dont know how many groves but not bothered it a 1 in 10 twist so can only use 20gr heads except a 25gr hornady HPFB
it shoots and cleans perfectly

Tell them to cut threads on both ends and call it a hydraulic line. Don't think that's not been done more than a few times.

Who will do the gunsmithing? I'm in Canada too and have been thinking about some rebarreling projects.

Default 17 cal barrels

I have had very good accuracy results with several 17 cal Lilja barrels. They were chambered in 17 Rem (2) and 17 FB.
