Default Best 20 cal barrel?

I’m looking at building a 20-222 and was wondering if anyone can suggest a barrel maker or maybe someone has a new unused one laying around? I’ll be shooting 40 grains or less. Looking at the contour to be a sendero or smaller.

Just had a 20-222 built, used a 11tw Hart #4 on a Rem 700 and it turned out very well. H322 and 40gr Bergers puts them into tiny little groups. Also had a 20-250 built not to long ago and used a 8tw Krieger in their fluted Sendero contour, RL16 and 55gr Bergers also stacks them up in nice tiny little groups.

What is your load you using with the RL 16 for the 20-250? I am starting load development now with a 9 tweist 20-250 with the 55's?

I had a .204 Ruger chambered a couple years ago with an 11 twist xcaliber barrel and it shoots very very good. I think you will be pretty darn happy with almost any of the bigger name barrel makers. Krieger Lilja hart benchmark bartlien xcaliber pacnor brux shielen to name a few. They all make really good barrels but everyone has a mistake somewhere along the line.

I'm using 36gr of RL16 w/55gr Bergers and a of OAL 2.545 which is 5 thou off from touching in my gun and that gives me 3660 FPS with single digit ES.

This load in my gun shoots crazy good and isn't a particularly hot load, but it's certainly not a load I start right off with in another 20-250. Not that 3660fps is anything to whine about, but it's not super speedy either. I want to try RL26 because I think it'll be good for another 100+ fps but considering these things aren't particularly long for barrel life, I won't spend much time chasing speed when I have a load that'll shoot in the mid .1's.

My 20-250 has a 8tw Krieger finished at 26 inches.

Kriegers are very good. I'm real happy with the one on my .20 Practical.

They have an 10 and 12 twist Rem. Varmint/Sendero profile in stock right now. Decide on the twist and make a phone call...doesn't get much easier than that. -Al

P.S. Get the 10 twist.

If you're using the afore mentioned brand...I might add...stay with STAINLESS ...not chrome

I have three Lilja and they all shoot better than I can. I have pretty much gone with them because they were in stock when I was doing the build. I was going to try Kreiger on my last one but I figured why fix it if it isn't broke.
