Default 20 VarTarg

Have been frequenting my 2 local GH farms since the first of June. I try to get out at least twice during the week and both evenings on weekends. Hunting over very poor soybeans on one farm and alfalpha on the other. I think the poor soybeans are a result of either bad seed or poor weather when planting. The only benefit of the poor beans, besides being able to see the groundhogs, is they can still eat the small bean plants and do quite readily, plus the farmer told me to go ahead and drive on the field if I need to because he's sure they aren't going to make beans.
The more I use the VarTarg the more I like it. I'm giving my grandson Tim's 20 Tactical to the farmer and going to build Tim a VarTarg.
So far I've had a great year and looking forward to the rest of the summer & fall.

No doubt Eddie, both are great 20's. I do love both of mine! Pretty hard to give an edge to either one though. The 20 Tac is a heavy barrel and might be slightly more accurate and have slightly more range, but the 20VT on a model 7 sure is a lot handier to carry around!

Glad you're getting out. I've only been out 1x this year.

Default 20 vt

I sure like both of my 20 VTs. Have used them a lot on PDs and some on coyotes.
Having to make custom rifles for this great cartridge sure hurts the popularity of the 20 VT.

I crossed over 7,000 rounds through my Cooper 38 this May whacking pd's on the Rosebud. My guide was awestruck at the accuracy and headcount I was racking up. 812 dead dogs out of 850 rounds before I switched to my 20TAC. Although it is showing a little heat cracking in the throat, it still holds an inch at 200 yds. I am pondering a new barrel but hate to lose what I have.

Default Have two Coopers in 20VT

The first was a MTV That I put a Phoenix stock on back when they were affordable.Had a few 500 round days in Montana with that one with the farthest shot at 542 yards. The second one was a 223 with a beautiful French walnut stock that Greg turned into a tight necked 20VT.To say I love the VT is an understatement,no matter what you do with it you will be please in my humble opinion

Just have a new barrel made up and ready.

Save it until this one goes wild scattering shots.

With it already made and on hand. It's quick to just

swap tubes.

Don T
You might check with Cooper, at one time they offered a good price on rebarrel jobs.

Thumbs up

It quickly became my favorite small caliber. To this day, brings a smile to my face every time I shoot it.
