For me, 52-55 grain bullets and the .224" bore diameter in cartridges like the 22-250 and the 220 Swift go together like peas in a pod. If I jump up a bore diameter to 6MM, I prefer the 70+ grain bullets for coyotes, etc., at extended ranges. I even shoot 60-70 grain .224" bullets as a preference over 55 grain bullets at longer ranges in my custom 22-6MM rifle built on a Montana Rifle Company CRF Model 70 cloned stainless action. I've never been a disciple of the spit wad/muzzle velocity effect in choosing rifle bullets. But that's one of my weird preferences..... -BCB

The 55gr Nosler hit 4400fps from my 6mm/270 imp with 64.5gr of Re23.
I'm sure they will fly fast than that, since I used the exact same load with an 85 grain Barnes X bullet at 3900fps. If I get some time, I'll run them up full tilt and shoot a couple of groups. The barrel is 1:12 twist so I don't think they will fly apart. Tony |

I've used them in my 243ack and they hold up fine at 4200fps. I'm not sure what twist the barrel is but it's not very fast. With a brake there is no recoil, and on rodents the show through the scope is spectacular.

I had trouble with the 6mm 55g in high spin rate scenarios (275K+ RPM) where a normal varmint bullet was fine. Grey puff in the scope 10 ft out the muzzle.

If any of you that tried them and found they don't work so well for you happen to have 100-200 that you would sell, let me know.

I'll have to look to be certain but I think I have some 58gr Vmax 6mm/.243 bullets but you live in Comminfornia and they aren't lead free so they may not work for you.
