Default A .17 WSM Website...

Apparently Winchester has set up a website for the .17 WSM, at this address.

http://17winchestersupermagnum.com/c...-super-magnum/

Here is an interesting article from the site, where the .17 WSM takes on some Texas coyotes.

Thanks for the link.

I do wish they would let go of the ammo soon whether there are rifles or not. For us that roll their own, we could get started.

I have a No.1 set aside for the 17WSM, but so far kinda stymied with lack of the ammo. Just have to have some patience I reckon.

Rick - you obviously know those are a rimfire round so I assume you reference was to rolling your own new guns. Where did you find reamer for the new round?

John was kind enough to post a another link for the WSM and the winchester low wall. I have been nosing the net for anything on the new 17 WSM rimfire round but real information is still too short for me yet.

A rimfire No.1 is a flick of the wrist now after a lot of Rick R&D, so I have put a No.1 hornet aside for a 17 rimfire conversion. Barrels are under the couch at the ready, just takes some factory info being available on the ammo/reamer specs.

I get my reamers from PTG. I have not been on that site for a while, so not persued a reamer buy because of the lack of ammo/real info,.....to measure etc. I really do not want the first reamer horse out of the barn(kinda like vettes), as some dimensions on the other earlier 17 rimfires were a bit lax in my opinion. Once I have some ammo that I can measure and compare to the reamer spec, it will be the time to buy and build. I have been forced in a way to do my own work anymore, with the No.1 I modify the breechblock with a bushing insert that has some firing pin movement flexibility after the fact etc.

I have seen one 17 WSM rimfire reamer drawing on the net, and believe said spec pict was posted here as a reference, but my confidence in it right now for my needs is a little short. I believe that will mellow out as time/ammo comes into our hands.

It's not a Winchester site. It's a private site and the owner is gleaning stories from around the net to add to it.

The coyote post is from the North American Hunting Club's site:
Testing Winchester's 17 Super Magnum Rimfire Round on Lone Star Coyotes

Default Makes Sense...

Thanks, that makes sense as there seems to be a lack of Winchester advertising. Now if we can get some precise info on the cartridge and rifles and get things moving along...

If I were gonna make a rifle I'd sure want to have a large stash of ammo set back somewhere, "says the guy that still remembers buying a new Remington 592 in 5MM Mag ".
Anyone shot it yet??
